Flyers and grounders(baseball), fishing, crabbing, skinny dipping, cold beer. Oh yeah, we call 'em lightning bugs...love you and look forward to your moth story!
Beth anne , wrote one novel, jeez it was a bunch of work . Larry mcmurtry, I read a thousand or so, was the only writer I'd have liked to see run down the stretch with you Beth Anne. Ii I were your jockey, I'd have talked you into pulling up and us just watching him run. For some reason I wish for you and Tommy to listen to eva Cassidy performing time after time.
Your comment about getting the English major off the porch reminded me of a conversation I had with a fellow dog owner at the dog park. Both of us English majors (I also had a journalism major.) The only two people in the park, we sat there at least 30 minutes and complained about the horrible grammar usage in today’s society. It was so nice to find someone else who cares!
I admire your steps toward oral storytelling! And it’s encouraging to hear the Moth trains their authors. I believe there’s a lot to learn for writers from telling stories to an audience. I hope your panel gets chosen.
Back at Maine Media recalling how gracious you were last summer inviting me to sit in on your workshop when my instructor was stranded at the airport.
Marianne! What a sweet memory. Lucky you to be back at MM. Eat a lobster for me!

I can't wait to hear the story from The Moth!!!

Thanks for the delightful update. A haiku for you, and the example you set. The hours are dark
a single candle shows the way
be the light
I love that, Gary! So beautiful. When I said "The Bethnnigan wants love," this is what I meant. ❤️
I might have already sent you this link to my Salvation South story on southern Appalachian rivers and life. I'm bad about remembering stuff like that, but here it is https://www.salvationsouth.com/will-the-rivers-still-run-blue-ridge-mountain-rivers-essay-gary-grossman/
The tilted world is paramount and astonishing because of beth anne. Plain and simple.
aww thanks! I let my husband help a LITTLE bit! 😘
Way too go Tommy . Secretariat, otherwise known as Beth Anne is the master of the art of storytelling. Blazing thing to witness.

That comment almost makes me wish I had a dog.

thanks! I hope so, too--though AWP 's choices are always a bit hard to dicipher.
Curious if the Mcmurtry commentary was available?
